The neighborhood fund was established almost a decade ago by the esteemed Rabbi Yehoshua Meir Rosenthal שליט”א with the goal of providing families in the neighborhood who were struggling and in need with assistance of basic necessities . Initially, the fund’s activities were quiet and far removed from public view.
With the blessed growth of the communities in the neighborhood and the many needs that have emerged in recent years, the need for an annual system, a system that everyone will be aware of, and the need for continuous support, were all inevitable. With the blessings of the Rabbi, it was decided to establish a fund that will be a source for constant help and an approachable address to reach out to in any distress. The unique structure of the fund was created in a way that corresponds with the character and diverse fabric of communities and people
In the past two years, the fund has consistently expanded its operations to provide assistance and support for families in need and to think broadly about helping the needs of the neighborhood residents. The fund partners with and encourages initiatives that assist the community in a variety of areas, such as parent training for protection, smart economics, and the promotion of cooperation among residents in the areas of wellbeing and society. The neighborhood fund serves as an extension of all residents in the neighborhood, carrying out the responsibility of supporting and assisting those in stress with their individual needs in a dignified and appropriate manner.
In the past few years, the Neighborhood Fund has been operating and expanding so that no family in the neighborhood will have to celebrate a holiday in scarcity, give up a meal, or cope with the reality of darkness due to disconnection of electricity or gas. As the neighborhood grows and develops, so does the fund, expanding its activities to meet the needs of residents not only financially but also through support, rehabilitation, assistance with rights enforcement, and everything to help neighborhood residents maintain their dignity.
